Fremantle Hospital Visit
Project Date: Ongoing
Austal staff were invited to take part in a special visit of the Fremantle Hospital Medical Research Foundation’s facilities as part of the Company’s continued support of the Freo Doctor Lottery charity.
The visit gave Austal workers an insight into the Foundation’s world leading Haemachromatosis research which Austal staff support through their involvement in the Freo Doctor Lottery.
Since 2006, Austal staff have participated in the charity, where workers vie for the chance to win a cash prize in a weekly lottery, with 50% of the proceeds going to the Fremantle Hospital Medical Research Foundation.
Austal Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Bellamy, believes the relationship Austal and its workforce have established with the Fremantle Hospital Medical Research Foundation is a great example of Austal’s commitment to the local community.
“The Freo Doctor Lottery is a fantastic project and provides a forum where our workers can support the important research of the Foundation whilst at the same time having a little fun with the lottery,” said Mr Bellamy.
“It is a real privilege for staff to get a firsthand look into such leading edge medical research and see how their participation in the Lottery has contributed to this.
“The tour has emphasised how important this research is and Austal is just glad that it can be involved in some capacity and we look forward to a continued relationship with the Fremantle Hospital Medical Research Foundation.”
