Testimonials
Craig Baddiley
Marine Technical Section - Queensland Police Service
"Staff from the Queensland Water Police and Austal developed an excellent working relationship throughout the project and customer service from Austal has been excellent... I can attest that no other supplier has provided the quality of after-sales service that Austal has delivered.
In summary, Austal met or exceeded all expectations, including construction quality, delivery time frame, price and after sales service. Based on the professionalism, quality and service provided to the Queensland Water Police, I am happy to recommend Austal, in particular, to other agencies involved in the procurement of vessels for law enforcement and related roles."
Following a competitive tender process, the Queensland Police Service awarded a fixed price contract for the supply of three-purpose designed and built command and patrol vessels to Austal in May 2008. These 24 metre aluminium catamarans were delivered in early 2009, and have since been in in operation for the Queensland Water Police.
David C. Payne
Director - Transport Logistics, Venetian Marketing Services Ltd
"I am very happy to endorse Austal as a quality designer and builder of high speed aluminium vessels; in particular, for potential clients requiring multiple vessels sharing the same, or a very similar, design.
While our experience with Austal is based on a catamaran ferry design, it is my belief that Austal has proven its capability to successfully design, build and deliver a vessel that meets any requirement proposed to them by a commercial, naval or coastguard organisation."
In 2006, Venetian Marketing Services Limited sought tenders for seven high speed passenger ferries for delivery to Hong Kong. Austal was selected on the basis of its reputation in the industry, the technical sepcification in its bid, and the value for money represented by its bid.
Venetian Marketing Services Limited ended up placing orders for fourteen 47.5m passenger catamaran ferries, which are each capable of carrying 417 passengers and operating at speeds of up to 42 knots.
Jeff Ellison
Managing Director - Sealink Travel Group
"We have been very satisfied with how the 49.9m Austal-built catamaran has been able to deliver a premium service economically, reliably, and in sea states of up to 3.5m, a significant wave height. Austal's careful selection of proven equipment coupled with quality engineering design and robust aluminium construction has also meant that maintenance time is kept to a minimum."
In December 2003, Austal delivered one 49.9m vehicle-passenger catamaran ferry, "The Spirit of Kangaroo Island", to operators SeaLink Travel Group. The vessel has since been operating up to 12 crossings daily between Kangaroo Island and Cape Jervis, South Australia, serving as a modern, reliable link to the mainland for Kangaroo Island's tourism industry.
Lt. Col. Martin Sammut
Armed Forces of Malta
"I have been very impressed by the lines of communication throughout the project, which have ensured that any issue was addressed in appropriate and reasonable timelines...
I must say that Austal has been a great company to do business with and augur that the good relations established with Austal will continue for several years to come."
In late 2009, Austal completed its first European defence contract, delivering four 21.2 metre inshore patrol craft - including training and spares support - to the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM).
The aluminium vessels have a maximum speed of more than 26 knots and will assist the AFM with surveillance and border protection throughout Malta’s coastal waters.
Austal personnel were contracted to provide in-country support for the vessels for the first 12 months of operation. The contract included the supply of scheduled maintenance spares, procurement support and main equipment spares.

"My belief is that Austal has the capabilities to successfully design, construct, deliver and support vessels that meet demanding requirements proposed to them by Naval, Coast Guard and Policing organisations world wide."
In 2006, the Sultanate of Oman and Austal signed a contract for two 65 metre, 50 knot, multi-purpose vehicle-passenger ferries following an international tender process.
The vessels were delivered in 2008 and have since been serving the route between the Omani capital of Muscat and Khasab on the Musandam Peninsula Enclave in the Strait of Hormuz.
