Austal Limited (Austal) (ASX:ASB) has been awarded an engineering services contract to support survivability testing on the U.S. Navy’s Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship.

Austal celebrates keel laying for Cape Jervis (CCPB05)
Once again demonstrating the rapid progress Austal is making of the Cape Class Patrol Boat Program, on 17 January 2014, Austal hosted the keel-laying ceremony for the fifth vessel (Cape Jervis) of eight 56-metre patrol boats that Austal is designing, building and supporting for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS).

Austal Launches USNS Fall River (JHSV 4). First of four Navy ships to be launched at Austal in 2014.
On January 16, 2014, Austal USA successfully completed the launch process of the USNS Fall River (JHSV 4). Recently christened, this 103-meter high-speed catamaran represents the U.S. Department of Defense’s next generation multi-use platform. It is part of a 10-ship program, the funds for all of which have been appropriated, worth over US$1.6 billion.

Austal Delivers Littoral Combat Ship Coronado (LCS 4) to US Navy
3rd ship delivered by Austal to the Navy in less than a year.
Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Coronado (LCS 4) was delivered to the Navy on September 27, after successfully completing Acceptance Trials at the end of August. Coronado is the second Independence-variant LCS that has been delivered to the U.S. Navy.

Littoral Combat Ship Coronado (LCS 4) Completes Acceptance Trials
Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship Coronado (LCS 4) successfully completed Acceptance Trials (AT) on August 23, 2013, in the Gulf of Mexico. This milestone achievement involved the execution of intense comprehensive tests by the Navy while underway, which demonstrated the successful operation of the ship’s major systems and equipment. This is the last significant milestone before delivery of the ship, which is expected in September.

US Navy extends high speed catamaran charter
The charter of the Austal high speed vessel WestPac Express has been extended for a further six months by the United States Navy’s Military Sealift Command. The modification to the charter will see the ship continue to support the operations of the United States Marine Corps’ Third Marine Expeditionary Force through to February 2014.

4th Fleet Says Joint High Speed Vessel is a Perfect Match
NAVAL STATION MAYPORT, Fla. (NNS) -- The Navy's first joint high-speed vessel, USNS Spearhead (JHSV 1), made a brief stop at Naval Station Mayport Feb. 14 to introduce the ship to Commander, U.S. 4th Fleet on its way to its new homeport in Little Creek, Va.
The port call is an opportunity for senior officials and military personnel from U.S. 4th Fleet to visit the ship and receive capability briefings for future operational planning.
