Apprenticeships

Our long-standing commitment to developing and retaining world-class tradespeople is reflected in our award-winning training record and the 90 apprentices that are already learning their trades from the world’s best aluminum shipbuilders.

Covering the key areas within the shipbuilding industry, these apprenticeships provide you with an unequalled opportunity to gain a valuable trade qualification whilst building some of the world’s most advanced vessels.

In Mobile, Alabama, Austal takes on an average of 75 new apprentices each year in the following disciplines:
  • Aluminium Fabrication and Welding
  • Marine Fitout (Carpentry and Cabinet-making)
  • Mechanical Fitting (Engineering)
  • Electrical Mechanics (Electrician)
