Live-Aboards

Austal's range of custom built live-aboard vessels offer a sophisticated product with quality accommodation for operations including dive charter, adventure and watersport holidays or Cruise Yacht cruising for those that want a more intimate cruise experience away from the large cruise ship environment.

Austal has a proven track record in the design and construction of purpose-built dive boats, delivered on-time at a competitive price. These vessels, built for leading operators, all record extrememly high levels of customer demand in satisfaction due to the quality of the onboard experience provided by these purpose designed and built vessels, constructed to exacting international standards.

Austal specialises in working with its customers to develop the optimal solution for the project, taking into account both operational requirements and budgetary limitations. Whether that solution is a monohull or catamaran, it will be built in aluminium, a material that has important advantages over steel in the live-aboard role.

To begin with, the aluminium vessel will be significantly lighter than its steel equivalent. That weight saving means shallow draught, allowing you to take your clients over reefs and into lagoons and harbours that are off limits to other vessels. Less weight also means lower fuel consumption and/or higher speed, which itself translates into less time in transit and more dive time, not to mention the ability to reach more distant dive locations.

Aluminium also requires less maintenance than steel - again more time at sea - and with Austal's long experience and high quality standards, there are no concerns over structural integrity.

Diving is a people sport, and Austal understands the importance of personal contact. The Austal design and management team includes a number of staffs who enjoy diving, boating and other water-based recreation and thus have an in-built understanding of market requirements.
