Careers at Austal

As a global shipbuilder and defence prime contractor, Austal offers an exciting, dynamic working environment with the opportunity to contribute to some of the world’s most iconic defence and commercial shipbuilding programs.

In Australia, defence vessels are designed and constructed at Austal Australia’s Henderson, Western Australia facility. Employing approximately 600 people, the facility is the home of the Cape Class Patrol Boat (CCPB) and High Speed Support Vessel (HSSV). Austal Australia also operates service centres in Darwin in the Northern Territory, Cairns in Queensland and Oman in the Middle East.

In the United States of America, defence vessels are manufactured at Austal USA’s state of the art shipbuilding facilities in Mobile, Alabama. Employing over 4,500 people, the facility is the largest employer in the city and is currently delivering the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) (formerly Joint High Speed Vessel) programs for the United States Navy.

In the Philippines, commercial vessels are constructed at one of the country’s largest shipyards, at Balamban, Cebu. Close to 1,000 employees construct high performance passenger and vehicle/passenger ferries, offshore (crew transfer) ships, wind farm and other auxiliary ships, for commercial fleet operators located worldwide.
