Management Systems Certification

Austal has an implemented Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Integrated Management System that supports our people, our values, and achieving our business objectives.

Our HSEQ system delivers a safety first working culture, with a focus on protecting the environment; and the delivery of Quality products for our customers.

We achieve this by growing our business in a sustainable way, which promotes continual improvement in all aspects of our business.

Austal strives for and continues to achieve record low Lost Time Injury Frequency Rates (LTIFR) and Medical Treatment Injury Frequency Rates (MTIFR) in our workplaces and we are recognised as a leader in safety throughout the global shipbuilding industry. For example, in Australia, Austal has achieved in excess of 600 day’s production Lost Time Injury (LTI) free.

Our ongoing focus on ‘Zero Harm and Zero Waste’ and a collaborative approach to workplace HSEQ management sees new, employee driven initiatives to improve production methodologies, processes and procedures regularly introduced.

Health and Safety

Our employees are expected to take personal responsibility and be involved in setting and complying with Austal Australia standards and improvement initiatives. Austal Australia provides support and training to enable our people to maintain a safe working environment.

At Austal Australia, we believe that any workplace injury or disease is preventable. We work to identify and control hazards and we support the health and well-being of our people.  We have systems and processes in place that move us beyond compliance as we strive for continuous improvement.

Environment

Our Austal Australia quality management system is certified to the International Quality Management Standard ISO 9001: 2008 by Lloyd’s Register of Quality Assurance (LRQA).
