AUSTAL AUSTRALASIA RECEIVES CONTRACT FOR 36 METRE CATAMARAN FOR CRUISE WHITSUNDAYS

Austal Limited (ASX: ASB) is pleased to announce that Austal Australasia has been awarded a contract in the range of A$14-16 million to construct a 36-metre catamaran for Cruise Whitsundays, part of Australia’s leading experiential tourism group, Journey Beyond.

The new vessel, designed by Incat Crowther, will be constructed by Austal Vietnam and is scheduled for delivery in December 2026.

Austal Limited CEO Paddy Gregg said the contract, awarded following a competitive tender process, demonstrated Austal’s continued leadership and success in the global commercial ferry market.

“This new commercial contract highlights the capability of Austal’s commercial shipyards and effective collaboration with both customers and industry partners. We’re delighted Cruise Whitsundays has selected Austal to deliver this important new vessel for their fleet, offering an exceptional experience for their passengers and crew, said Mr Gregg.

“Following outstanding progress on the 71-metre steel monohull roro passenger ferry ‘Dory 2’, for the Degage Group in French Polynesia, Austal Vietnam is ready to commence construction on this exciting new vessel for Cruise Whitsundays. The Austal team in Vung Tau has quickly established a reputation for quality, safety, efficiency and innovation and look forward to collaborating with both Incat Crowther and Cruise Whitsundays on the delivery of this vessel.

The 36-metre aluminium catamaran will have a capacity for 390 passengers and 10 crew - and operate scheduled resort connections from Cruise Whitsundays’ terminal in Airlie Beach, to both Daydream and Hamilton Islands, in the Whitsundays, off the Central Queensland coast of Australia.
