The international benchmark in border patrol capability

With our renowned design, the Patrol 58 (Cape-class and Evolved Cape-class) vessels are an integral maritime asset of the Australian Border Force (ABF), the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and the Coast Guard of Trinidad & Tobago.

The striking 58.1 metre, aluminium mono-hull patrol boats:

  • Undertake 28 day patrols, in conditions up to Sea State 4
  • Sail 4,000 nautical miles before requiring refuel
  • Combat the full range of maritime security threats
  • Carry a large crew to effectively and safely manage boarding operations
  • Identify, track and intercept an extended range of threats in the maritime domain and gather intelligence and store evidence
  • Simultaneously launch two tender response vessels

An evolving maritime world

Improving on the original Cape-class design we developed new variants of the Patrol 58 that extend the capability of this proven platform in an evolving maritime world.

The Evolved Cape-class patrol boat design for the Royal Australian Navy improves operational capability and crew capacity. The Evolved Capes, constructed at our shipyard in Henderson, Western Australia, feature increased amenities to accommodate up to 32 people, improved quality of life systems and advanced sustainment intelligence systems that will further enhance the Navy’s capability to defend their nation.

Tailored solutions

In 2019, we were awarded a contract to design and construct a further two Cape-class patrol boats for the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG). These vessels, TTS Port of Spain (CG41) and TTS Scarborough (CG42) were delivered in May 2021.

Our team worked closely with the customer to tailor the vessel to meet their operational requirements. This customisation included additional armament placements and increased crew accommodation for up to 27 persons.
