Sustainability is integral to our growth strategy. We are targeting a 50% reduction in embodied emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2050, consistent with science-based targets. Across our operations, we are embedding technologies that improve energy efficiency, enable alternative fuels and support greater vessel autonomy. We’re integrating sustainability into our supply chain through sourcing lower-carbon aluminium and steel and renewable energy adoption.

Demonstrating our commitment to sustainable innovations

Our team in the Philippines is currently constructing the 66.8 metre aluminium cargo trimaran for VELA, which will be solely powered by wind and due to be launched in 2026. The vessel will transport high-value goods across the Atlantic Ocean, with the use of sails for main propulsion, rather than conventional diesel powered engines, resulting in an expectation of a 99% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared with conventional container ships. Our proven experience in trimaran design has offered Vela greater flexibility while delivering superior seakeeping, efficiency and performance.

In collaboration with Gotlandsbolaget we are developing a 130-metre flexible fuel high speed ferry. Designed with sustainability at the forefront, and future-proofed for an evolving maritime world, the vessel will have a combined cycle gas turbine, providing the flexibility to operate on a variety of fuel types, including hydrogen. ‘Gotland Horizon X’ will be a hydrogen-ready, vehicle passenger catamaran for climate-neutral operations, with construction due to begin in 2026.
